Built: 1956 by Smith Basin Dry Dock Co., Port Everglades, FL for the US Army, designated as Tug, Harbor, Diesel, 600 HP Steel 65′ vessel.
Construction: All welded steel.
Configuration: Conventional model hull configuration tugboat for age and type, having a curved stem, rounded chines, and rounded stern with a single main deck with single level deckhouse on deck and the pilothouse atop at the forward end of the house.
Compartmentation: Three transverse steel bulkheads form (4) compartments, from forward: forepeak; accommodations, engine room and storeroom with lazarette.
Horsepower: 600 via single Atlas Imperial model 45M5X-8 turbo charged diesel engine, direct reversing through a Capitol gearbox with 2.5-1 reduction.
Auxiliary Power: Two GM 2-53 diesel engines each driving a 20KW DC generator.
Steering Gear: Electro/ mechanical.
Towing Gear: Towing bitt with electrically driven capstan alongside.
